Custom Bid Forms

Ken Hittle from Custom Bid forms came to us looking for a website and a logo for his new business. His business specializes in designing custom forms for other businesses using Microsoft® Excel. Like his forms, he wanted the logo and website to be simple and easy to use. We used this idea as a guide throughout the entire project.

For the website, Ken was looking for something simple and clean, just like his forms. Because his business was new, and didn't have much in the way of content, we worked with him to write a rough draft of his pages text. Our aim was to keep the bulk of the information casual because Ken runs a one man business and wanted to reflect his personal approach.

We had to design the webpage to look visually pleasing with the focus on the features of his forms. The pictures he did have were displayed in two ways: sample pictures we put into a small photo gallery and the full pictures were put into a PDF for customers to download. After looking at some of Ken's competition and seeing their "text-only" logos, we decided it was necessary to incorporate a more memorable, iconic logo. Our approach was to emphasize the "custom" aspect of the forms with the folded corner at the bottom. It is shown in a different color than the body to give a sense of renewal and change. In the beginning, Ken was opposed to using blue for personal reasons, but we convinced him it was appropriate to the feel of the logo.

After we had completed both the logo and website, ken realized he needed business cards as well. Again, he wanted them simple, but he also wanted them to have a modern look and feel. Initially, we presented a fairly traditional card with a horizontal layout, but we all agreed it could be better. After more experimenting with that layout, we decided on a vertical format for the cards. We felt that the text fit better and it gave the card a more modern feel.
